The chessboard situation is resurrected and wisdom collides! The chess championship grandly launched by ACC will be held from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on March 30th 2025 (Sunday).

ACC successfully held the chess competition, with strong support from city councilors and state legislators. Teenagers collide with wisdom on the chessboard, and the community gathers strength in activities.
March 30th, 2025 ─── The chess competition hosted by the Asia Community Center (ACC) concluded successfully this weekend. This event attratced dozens of young chess players from all boroughs of New York City to actively participate. In the fierce and friendly game, the playerse showed extraordinary wisdom, strategy and concentration, and also gained growth and friendship.
This competition has received great attention and strong support from New York City Councilmember Susan Zhuang and New York State Representative Lester Chang. The two elected officials personally sent a letter of congratulations and highly affirmed ACC’s efforts in promoting youth education and promoting community integration. They sais that chess is not only a competitive activity, but also an important platform for exercising thinking, cultivating patience and judgement, and is worth of continued promotion in the community.
The competition is divided into three groups based on age and level, namely: Rated group for 5 to 9 years old, Rated group for 10 to 18 years old, and the Unrated group for 5 to 18 years old. The tournament is conducted according to the official rules of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) to ensure the fiarness and professionalism of the competition. Each participant carefully players in multiple rounds, and the on-site atmosphere is both intense and full of respect and encouragement.
The final list of winners is as follows:
First place: Gavin Gao (5-9 years old Rated group), Anthony Zhu (10-18 years old Rated group), Jason Liu (Unrated group)
Second place: Eugene Lin (5-9 years old Rated group), Yuqi Pan (10-18 years old Rated group), Lucas Jiang (Unrated group)
Third place: Louis Ren (5-9 years old Rated group), Austin Chen (10-18 years old Rated group), Dylan Wu (Unrated group)
In addition to the exciting competition, there were many parent volunteers on site to help organize the order and provide detailed guidance and ecnouragement to the young chess players. Parents said that this kind of event not only improved their children’s chess skills, but also trained their psychological quality and social ability, which is a very meaningful community activity. ACC said that it will continue to strive to build a platform for teenagers to showcase their talents and develop their interests, and promote communication and unity among community members by holding more such high-quality competitions and cultural events. In the future, ACC will also actively copperate with elected officials and educational institutions at all levels to enable more families to benefit from cpmmunity resources and jointly cultivate the wisdom and confidence of the next generation.
